    Osteopathy
“Osteopathy is based on the perfection of nature’s work. When all parts of the human body are in line we have health. When they are not the effect is disease. When the parts are readjusted disease gives place to health.” (Andrew Taylor Still, 1910) This description precisely describes the focus of Osteopathy. Dr. Still founded Osteopathy in 1874 and opened the first osteopathic educational institution in 1892.
The practice of Osteopathy uses precise palpation to detect these areas that are not ‘in line’. There can be one, or more, structures that are problematic but the focus for the osteopathic practitioner is to find the root cause. Once uncovered, a variety of non-invasive, manual techniques are used to restore balance and optimize health.
Who can benefit from Osteopathy? The benefits of Osteopathy can be widespread and include the reduction or elimination of symptoms resulting from dysfunction of the musculoskeletal, digestive, neurological, hormonal, cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

Within these systems, individuals recovering from surgeries, head traumas, sports injuries,
migraines, TMJ disorders, anxiety, and irritable bowel issues are just a few examples. Also, individuals suffering from various sources of pain, including:
neck, back and other forms of chronic pain. Others who can be treated: pregnant women, infants with colic or other disorders, individuals with arthritis or other degenerative disorders. Through a variety of joint and fascial mobilizations, visceral manipulation and cranialsacral treatment, root causes can be addressed and eliminated.
While addressing the various physical dysfunctions that an individual might have, the practitioner of Osteopathy always maintains careful consideration of the psychological and emotional components of the individual.Through consideration of the whole body, Osteopathy emphasizes the importance of the mind, body and spirit.
